California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)English and Math (SBAC)
Students in grades 3-8 and 11 take the computer adaptive tests in English and math in the spring each year. COIL will schedule group testing. If you aren't able to attend during the scheduled week, please speak with your advisory teacher. Student score reports are mailed home over the summer. If the student score report has not been received by the start of the school year, parents may visit the school office for a copy.California Science Test (CAST)
California’s new state standards for science call for students to think and work like scientists and engineers—asking questions and learning through hands-on investigation and discovery. Working with science teachers, California has developed a new assessment, called the California Science Test (CAST), which emphasizes scientific thinking and reasoning. This year students in grade 5, 8, and 12 will participate in the CAST test.
For additional information, please visit the CDE’s CAASPP Science Assessment Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/caasppscience.asp. If your child is in a grade level participating in the CAST field test, the testing window is the same as for the English and math tests, in the spring of each school year.
Parents/guardians have the right to exempt their child from taking the CAASPP assessments. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's participation, please contact your advisory teacher.
